Just discovered this picture of me on the Brightroom website running the Cardiff Half Marathon 2011.
I look half dead. I think I might have been by that stage and that was only mile 3.
Of the 3 half marathons I’ve ran this year, this way by far the most enjoyable as I paced myself well and left a lot for the end. The only problem with the ending was that it was totally crowded out with people so it was difficult to pass people, especially when coming back around the Bay.
The worst part of it all was having to walk back into Cardiff from the finish line. It was only 1.5 miles but it felt like 15. I just wanted to be home at that stage. But I went to Burger King instead and ate much.

Can’t wait until I do my next one. Feel like I’ve lost a bit of fitness since Vegas though. Far too many Reese’s cups, buffets and Burger King’s!
So I made it home from Las Vegas on Tuesday morning. I could have kissed the ground after a turbulent 8 hour flight. Those who know me will recognise how terrified I am of air travel. I’ve been versing up on flight safety and I know rationally that it won’t be a problem, yet inside something is triggered when I hear those massive engines roar.
Vegas was amazing. I ended up betting around $50 mostly on the $0.01 machines and won maybe $20. Which is shorthand for saying I lost $30. But we’ll let bygones be bygones.
I spent a week there in total and was honestly thinking of spending more time there because a) it’s around $30 a night to stay in a suite in the Orleans and b) I was so terrified of the flight back.
Decided not to take any photographs as I wanted to experience the town for itself and that I did. Would I go back again? Probably but next time I’d travel west and spend a few days in California and the rest.
And as per always on my journeys I had to stop off in an Irish bar. Where I met a real life Leprechaun who kept quite literally pouring drinks down peoples throats.
I changed hosts last week and I’ve spent the last couple of days fixing up library dependencies and scping missing webroot files into the new home directory.
Should hopefully be finished by the weekend. Then I will continue to update my portfolio and post stuff here.
